Please read this consent document carefully before you decide to participate in this study.
Purpose of the research study:
This study is conducted by Yulia A. Strekalova, a PhD student in health communication at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. The purpose of this study is to survey internet users and examine the factors that affect health information engagement.
What you will be asked to do in the study:
You will participate in an online survey, which will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey includes questions about the sources that you prefer to use to search for health information. Other survey questions will address your experience with exposure to health information (for example, if you feel overwhelmed by the amount of information available, or if you review information multiple times before making a decision). We will also ask some basic demographic information.
Risks and benefits:
There are no anticipated risks associated with this study. You can skip any question or withdraw from the survey altogether. If you decide to quit at any time before you have finished the survey, your answers will NOT be recorded.
You will be contributing to knowledge about health information orientation and the health information available on the Internet. After we have finished data collection, we will provide you with more detailed information about the purposes of the study and the research findings, if you wish.
Although there is no direct benefit to you for participating in the study, the information that you will share will help in future health communication research.
Your responses will be kept completely confidential.
This survey is anonymous but you may choose to provide your contact information for participation in future studies. Your identity will be kept confidential to the extent provided by law.
